Please join printmaker Carol Black for a 3-hour workshop from 1 to 4 pm on Saturday, October 18th.
In this class, you will design, carve, and print your own linocut. Carol will cover the basics of printmaking, including:
discussion of materials
design transfer
carving techniques
inking the lino block
pulling a print (with and without a press)

All materials included
$65 plus a $20 materials fee payable to the instructor

This class is open to all levels of experience but will be tailored to the beginner. If you are new to linocut, this class will set you on course to make your own prints at home. If you aren’t new but haven’t done it for a while, this class will reinvigorate your printmaking chops!

A note on drawing: Linocut (like woodblock) usually begins with a drawing. If drawing isn’t your thing, not to worry! There will be a selection of images to choose from. If you plan to bring your own drawing, make sure it’s not much larger than 4x6” (The linoleum blocks we will be using are 5x7”).

Carol Black shows her work in several local galleries and at art fairs around Placer County; she participates in the Open Studio tours associated with both the North Auburn and Placer Artists groups. In addition to original linocut prints, she designs and creates hand carved stamps and block printed textiles. You can see more of her work at littleflowerslino.com.
